Ocean Cliff Wedding

I love a good Ocean Cliff wedding. Every time a couple tells me that they have booked here I want to stand up and raise my hand, “Pick me, pick me!” The venue is beautiful, the views are amazing and the service is top notch!

Emma and Andrew wanted to have a first look which I love and always suggest. We drove down the road about 5 minutes to Brenton Point. We were a little worried about the weather. The skies just looked ready to rain! But it was worth it to chance a few minutes alone, away from prying eyes. It so nice to just have a private moment before craziness of the day. That area is also so amazing for photos! The rocks have such interesting colors and if you look close they are all round flat stones. It’s really cool!

Their ceremony was held outside in front of the pergola with Narragansett Bay as the backdrop. The stormy skies that were there earlier in the day were completely gone and the sun was shining brightly! Ceremonies here in the late afternoon are great because the couple is backlit which keeps them from having contrasty shadows on their faces. This type of lighting helps for the family formals too!

Because Emma and Andrew chose to have a first look they were able to enjoy their cocktail hour while I snuck into the ballroom to photograph the details they chose for their day. This room always photographs so bright and airy which is perfect for me! More dreamy light the better!

Pro tip: If your sweetheart table is in front of the windows and you do the toasts there, you will be very very back lit. This makes for very bright photos which I love but if you are looking for something a little darker you can switch the room and have the sweetheart table near the entrance with the original exterior stone wall behind you. Both are great options!

There are so many large windows letting in natural light you almost forget about the gorgeous chandelier until the sun goes down. Then the lights come on and the dancing starts and the party really gets going! Emma and Andrew are great dancers and Emma’s dress was perfect for spinning on the dance floor! The Ocean Cliff allows for a lot of room for dancing even if you have a band. You can dance in the center of the room but also in the front carpeted section as well which is usually a little darker if you are a little shy about dancing.

Definitely one of my top seaside venues and I can’t wait to photograph there again!
